Experience
Attorney Watkins has been practicing in Durham County, North Carolina since 2014. She began as a paralegal and became a managing partner of Kisala Watkins Law Group, PLLC after passing the bar exam. In 2022 she opened The Watkins Law Firm to create a technology-based law firm. Shortly thereafter, North Carolina courts moved to e-filing and all court records will soon be kept online.
Education & Community Service
She began her studies at NC A&T State University earning a political science degree in 2008 and moved on to NCCU School of Law graduating in 2013. Attorney Watkins is a member of the Durham Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she served as the public relations chair. She has also served as the social media chair for The Committee to Elect Kevin E. Jones who was elected Durham County District Court Judge in 2022. She now works with the NC Black Alliance and the NC Black Legal Network to fight against voter suppression. Attorney Watkins serves as the Director of the NC Legislative Black Caucus where she works with local law makers in passing legislation to help black and brown communities obtain much needed resources.
Practice Areas
Her new practice is focused on family law and mediation. Attorney Watkins attended countless mediation sessions observing the benefits of the process. While some of those cases were resolved, others went on to trial where Attorney Watkins has fought for her clients in courtrooms across the state.
